A parish celebration in 1965 marked three special events: Fr. Buhl’s 20th anniversary as our pastor, the 25th anniversary of the Christian Mothers’ Society, and the 10th anniversary of our “new” church.
The changes recommended by Vatical II began to take place in 1966. More English appeared in Mass and on February 27th our first Sunday evening Mass was celebrated at 6:30pm.

June 26, 1966 was the day that marked the beginning of St. Conrad Parish. The Archbishop saw fit to establish a new mission, much to the wonderment, confusion, surprise, and disappointment of many parishioners. The new parish held services in the Melvindale High School auditorium until plans for the new church building were completed.

On August 14, 1966, the parish athletic field was dedicated to Fr. Buhl in appreciation for his many contributions to the parish. The field then became known as Buhl Field.
